Sharks into their fourth successive National Cup final

2017 National Cup champions Coventry Sharks remain on course to defend their title after victory over London GD II sees them into their fourth consecutive women's Cup final.

On a snow-disrupted day, the second semi-final between GD and University of Bath had to be postponed which means we wait to see if London GD can join their male counterparts by qualifying for the Cup final and remaining on course for a double-double of men’s and women’s league and cup successes.

Sharks made a strong start, taking a 16-10 lead into half-time at the match at Coventry Sport and Leisure Centre. GD II fought back through top scorer Alicia Montano Centurion, who netted four times in the second half as part of her overall tally of five, but the Londoners were unable to make up that deficit and it remained a six goal margin at full time. The Midlanders took the win 28-22.

Kristin Ivancheva, who has been in stunning form for Sharks this season, contributed five goals in the first half and three in the second half. She was joined on the scoresheet by Jolanta Bicka (five) and Marta Gutowska (six).

They wait to discover whether their opponents will be London GD or University of Bath at the final on 5/6 May at Derby Arena.
