England Handball is the growth engine for the sport in England. Through our expertise, insight and knowledge, we work with a range of partners to provide the opportunity for anyone to be part of the handball community.
A busy week saw me traveling to Kent, London, Sussex, Buckinghamshire, and Essex.
In Kent I supported the finals of the county’s school games, a culmination of a 150-team primary school handball competition.
Heading to the Capital I met with Fit for Sport, a national multi-sport coaching company. The meeting saw agreement to a pilot project in London. The pilot will test a delivery model. It was also agree that coaches would benefit most from the activator course. We will be looking to develop and confirm a partnership agreement with Fit for Sport and establish club links.
Staying with London, but benefiting from technology, I had a Webex meeting with London GD, where we discussed required support and development plans.
Heading to the south coast I met with Brighton University. We discussed establishing an Introduction to Teaching Handball course within the university’s teacher training course - with project links to the Schools competition.
Travelling up to the Home Counties my next meeting was with Leap County Sport Partnership. We talked about handball development for 2018/19 - including growth of the county schools’ competition.
Before a trip to Essex I talked to Carshalton Handball Club to support their achievement of Pro-Active Club status. The final stop of the week was the University of Essex to discuss potential access to their new sports arena for handball activity.
