Summary/Overview of Proposals

Mens Competiton

Proposal one

Focuses on a regional structure at the start of the season with a tiered based system, top-performing teams move forward into a top division in the 2nd half of the season forming the Premier Handball League. The format provides a reduction in travel and an increase in the number of teams that can progress through to the Premier Handball League expanding it to 10.

Keeps a stand-alone Premier Handball League and reformats the current national league structure to provide a more balanced progression into the Premier Handball League. Creating a realistic stepping stone for teams which wish to progress into the highest league while providing an appropriate 2nd tier for teams.

ENGLAND HANDBALL PROPOSAL DOCUMENT

After an initial proposal in 2017.18 to change the structure of the senior leagues, England Handball will be investigating and exploring a change to the league structure for implementation in the 2020.21 season. The initial proposals in 2017.18 were not developed further, in order to focus on creating sustainable junior league structures at u19, u16 and u14 level.

After an internal review, England Handball believes it is appropriate to now focus on the delivery of the senior competition to support clubs and the long term ambitions of the sport.
