2019.20 National Finals Weekend

England Handball National Finals Weekend England Handball is pleased to announce a new National Finals format for the 2019.20 season which will see the culmination of all of England Handballs major finals under one roof at the David Ross Sports Village in partnership with the University of Nottingham to deliver a spectacular weekend of Handball. The new National Finals format will see the combination of a number of events into one end of season finale with the National Finals, National Schools Finals, Handball Conference and the end of season awards all coming together.

John Pearce National Competition and Events manager reflected upon the changes to the National Finals weekend;

“Moving the Finals to the University of Nottingham and the David Ross Sports Village really gives us the opportunity to do something pretty unique, which not a lot of sports get the chance to do by culminating a number of our major events. Hopefully, this could be a real spectacle for Handball and close the season off in emphatic fashion”  

Christine Bailey Assistant Director of Sport for the University of Nottingham added;

 “We are incredibly excited to be working with England Handball to host the National Finals Weekend. This will be the largest handball event we have hosted at the David Ross Sports Village since opening and we are looking forward to seeing some of the best teams in the country compete at our venue. There will no doubt be a buzz around campus over this weekend and we hope many of our students and the broader community will come and support.”

The National Finals weekend opens on Saturday 6th June 2020 with the National u15 Schools Finals for Boys and Girls taking place from 10:00 onwards, whilst on the main court, the England Handball conference opens for all stakeholders to network alongside presentations in the morning both on and off the court.   The afternoon on Saturday climaxes with the Men’s and Women’s National Cup Final on the main court, which is then followed in the evening by the England Handball Association National Awards Dinner and end of season presentations.  

The Handball weekend draws to a close On Sunday 7th June with the U13 National Schools Finals continuing the action, and the main court showcasing the best of the u16 and u19 National competition with the finalists replacing the seniors and battling it out for the final pieces of silverware on the main court.
