A week-in-the-life-of Ricardo Vasconcelos

A varied week started with discussions with Leicestershire & Rutland County Sport Partnership.

The meeting was to finalise funding for a part-time handball coach to deliver satellite club activity linked to Loughborough Handball club.

Next up were talks with Nottingham Handball club and Coventry Sharks Handball club to establish future development plans and establish where support is needed.

Handball development for 2018-19 was on the agenda for follow-up meetings with the County Sport Partnerships; Energise, Staffordshire Sport and CSW Sport. Talks included the growth and development of the county-school competition in 2018-19.

It was then time for me to get ‘hands-on’ as I delivered Introduction to Teaching Handball courses.

The Introduction to Teaching Handball course was the subject of meetings with Nottingham University and Nottingham Trent University. Discussions were around the integration of the course within teacher training courses.

Schools handball was the focus of a meeting with Midlands based multi-sports coaching company Next level Sports. Talks centred around potential training for coaches in handball to support primary school delivery.
