Cambridge beat Medway to stay in top flight

Cambridge beat Medway Dragons 17-16 in a close affair to stay in the top flight.  

Cambridge trailed 7-8 at the break in the play-off match, but were able to pull the scores back in the second half, scoring the winner in the last minute.

Medway started strongly, building up a 6-1 lead. However, Cambridge found their way back into the game to trail by just one goal at the break.  

The teams traded goals in the second half. With 31 seconds remaining Medway conceded a penalty. Katalin Retfalvi stepped up and scored the goal that would ensure another season at the top level for Cambridge.  

Cambridge’s Grete Morvenaite was the top scorer with nine goals. Dragons shared the goals among the team with Ioana Mashanda, Christina Marinescu and Erika Csillag all scoring four goals.
