Figures from the latest England Handball club survey show a substantial growth of the game in England over the last year.
The Autumn 2017 club survey recorded a rise of 50 teams from 187 to 237 from the 2016 Autumn survey, up by 26%.
The same period also saw the number of players training at least once a week increase by 24% from 2663 to 3306.
The average number of training sessions over a four-week period stayed the same, at five. The average number of people attending training was up slightly from 13 to 14.
The response rate to the survey was 65%.
The first survey was conducted in 2014. Figures then put the number of teams at 131, and number of participants training at least once a week at 1846
