England Handball announces its Community Activation Fund

England Handball announce details of its £12,000 community activation fund for 2019/20

Over the past two years the England Handball Partnerships team have supported 13 clubs to complete their Pro Active Clubs journey. Of that thirteen, 10 clubs have achieved the full Pro Active Club status and 3 emerging clubs have achieved the initial minimum criteria.

The accredited clubs have demonstrated quality across their: playing programmes, duty of care/club welfare, knowledge of their club and community and through their club management structures. Those clubs, who have gained the accreditation which is based on Sport England’s Club Mark programme, have been entitled to apply for a small club grant to assist with their community outreach projects.

We have invested £7000 in the associated Pro Active Clubs funding scheme to support clubs to engage with their local communities and to help more people discover handball and regularly engage in the sport at their local club. The 14 Pro Active Club projects have enabled more than 550 new people to discover handball for the first time. More than a quarter of those people have continued to engage with handball regularly within club sessions.

Building on the success of the Pro Active Club accreditation programme and associated funding stream. England Handball is pleased to announce its new Community Activation Fund. There are two levels of funding: Level 1 funding, up to £500 is for new or emerging Handball clubs. The funding can be used to kick start their club sessions with support towards equipment, facility costs, marketing, coaching qualifications etc. Level 2 funding, up to £750 is available to Pro Active Clubs only. This funding should be used to establish or develop links within their local community or to support the development of a new team within their club.
