20th March 2017
The England Handball Association Board has issued a statement following the England Handball Association Extraordinary General Meeting that took place at Loughborough University on Saturday 18 March 2017.
“The Extraordinary General Meeting of the England Handball Association was held to enable members to vote on the resolution to change the role of Chair from an elected to an appointed position. Of the 25 clubs that cast eligible votes, 17 (68%) voted in favour of the resolution and 8 (32%) voted against. This meant that the resolution was not adopted as the figure for those in favour fell short of the 75% minimum required.
As the current Chair’s term of office comes to an end at the Annual General Meeting on 17 June 2017, the Board of the England Handball Association will now begin the process of finding a new Chair through an open recruitment process as set out in the Articles of Association. The intention will be to identify suitable candidate(s) to be voted on by members at the Annual General Meeting in June. More details on this process will be issued shortly, including the establishment of a Nominations Committee to manage the process and in which members will be invited to participate.”
Minutes of the Extraordinary General Meeting will be available in due course.
