England Handball hiring for a Head of Operations

England Handball is hiring for the following role: Head of Operations  

Salary: £36k - £42k per annum depending upon experience  

Fixed-term contract until 31st March 2027 - 37hrs per week  

Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer 
 
Job Summary: To manage the daily operations across our sport provision.
 
Location: The post will be remote based, although travel across the rest of the Country may be required on occasions. Due to the nature of this job, you must hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.

JOB DESCRIPTION  

JOB TITLE: Head of Operations  

RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Executive Officer  

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Four direct reports  

Main Focus of the role: To manage the daily operations across our sport provision.

You will have experience in working within a multi-functional team; ensuring that you align work and output towards our Strategic Plan 2022 - 2030. We are looking for an exceptional Manager, who supports and develops their team, whilst constantly striving to have a positive impact on our customer experience.  

You will create, enhance, and maintain important stakeholder and contractual relationships internally and externally. We are looking for a role model for professional behaviour, an individual who takes ownership and seeks best practice, with the ability to professionally challenge and deal with complex matters.  

The Head of Operations will be required to work at pace will be results orientated and will be comfortable working to stretch targets This role is typically working Monday to Friday, but at times will be required at weekends to support the business needs.  

Accountability  

The Head of Operations will be accountable to, and appraised by, the Chief Executive Officer.  

The ideal Head of Operations will be able to understand where attention is required to deliver excellent customer service whilst ensuring multiple departments are on track to targets. Managing a budget will be key to this role. You will be required to ensure that we are working to best practice, whilst supporting and managing our processes and procedures for health, safety, operations and compliance.              

Key Aims and Objectives of the role  

  • Work with clubs EHA staff and other stakeholders to support the sustainability of England’s club infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate significant growth in participation in Handball over the term of the contract.  
  • Maximise the opportunity that exists within Handball to become an outstanding example of diversity and inclusion within sport.  
  • Be a champion of customer service whilst putting the sustainable growth of Handball at the centre of all decision making.  

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead the management team and staff in the conversion of strategic targets into measurable outputs across all developmental areas (Clubs, Community, Competition and Workforce development)
  • Ensure that the members of England Handball – Clubs - Referees -Coaches and Volunteers are at the heart of our growth plans, fostering strong relationships with an emphasis on high levels of customer service.
  • Oversee the effective delivery of operational plans; Workforce development - Club support – Community development and Competition.
  • Working closely with management team leads, monitoring performance against targets in all areas
  • Take a lead role in promoting and championing EHAs strategic plan, communicating with key stakeholders including Sport England, BUCS, EHF, IHF and other national partners
  • Support the Management team in the creation of departmental budgets and track budgets against forecasts on an ongoing basis.   
  • Be an advocate and ambassador for England Handball and the sport generally, raising the profile of England Handball, its brand and its potential.
  • Collaborate closely with the head of performance, ensuring plans are joined up and co-ordinated effectively for the benefit of the wider handball community
  • Manage the EHA s marketing resource both internal and external to maximise return on investment from all marketing spend.        

Management responsibilities  

The Head of Operations will support, appraise and line manage on a day-to-day basis, a small team of full and part time staff.
