Change to individual membership

Throughout the pandemic, the team at England Handball have been working on a change to
our membership system that will see us move from a team/club registration process to one
that is focused on individuals.

We recognise this will be quite a big change for the handball community, so we’ve put
together some key information below that explains more about why we’re making this
change and what it means for you.

As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

What’s changing with our membership?

Our membership system is provided by a company called Azolve and we’ve worked with
them to develop an individual membership process, which will be introduced in the 2021/22
registration window.

The England Handball team have also worked with a number of club representatives from
across the country to ensure the new system meets the needs of the handball community.
The feedback has been positive, so we’re planning to roll this out for the 2021/22 season for
players, coaches and officials.

Why is the membership system changing?

We’re working hard to boost awareness and participation in our sport and one of the ways
we can do that is to have an even better understanding of the handball playing community
we have right now.

On top of that, the new system will give us the ability to communicate directly with
individual members, ensuring greater visibility of important news, information and updates.
This will help reduce the burden on clubs to pass this information on, helping to simplify
some of administrative work that often falls to club volunteers.

What will I need to do to register from the 2021/22 season?

The current set up places the onus on the club administrator to input all the details for all of
their players. The changes we are making will mean it will soon be up to every individual
player, coach or official to register themselves.

However, club administrators will continue to have the roles of purchasing league entries
and adding players, coaches and officials to team rosters.
What happens if I don’t register?

Players, coaches and officials MUST be registered in order to play in the EHA leagues and
competitions. Only those players, coaches and officials who are registered will be covered
by the England Handball public liability and personal injury insurance, therefore all club
members – whether they play in EHA leagues or not – should ensure they register.

How much will the new registration cost?

As part of our return to play incentive, England Handball will be covering the costs of all
individual memberships for the 2021/22 season.

It is important to note that in future there will be a small cost associated with each
individual membership. This will continue to be an important revenue stream for England
Handball to help support the future of our sport, but we will also be launching a
comprehensive benefits package with each membership, which we will share more details
about in due course.
