Stroud, West London Eagles, Cambridge and Bideford from South League 1 have booked their under-19 competition play-off spots.
In the North League Shropshire, NEM Hawks and Warrington Wolves are in the play-offs. The final two spots from the North will be known when Olympia Cannock play matches against NEM Hawks and Warrington Wolves on 15 February. If Cannock win either of those matches, they will overhaul Peninsula. They could go through even if they lose both games, on goal difference. A victory for Hawks would see them finish top.
Shropshire beat Hawks in a top-of-the-table clash, winning 19-10, to inflict the Manchester side’s first defeat of the season. Shropshire have 22 points, three more than Hawks, who have the match against Cannock still to play. The other match in the North League saw Warrington Wolves win 27-15 against Peninsula.
Another match between the top two pitched Stroud against West London Eagles in the South 1 League. Stroud ran out 15-13 victors in a nail-biting encounter that was all-square at the break. Like Hawks, the result was Eagles first defeat. They finish second, two points behind Stroud. Stroud won their other match of the weekend, 25-15 against Bideford.
In a busy schedule Bideford beat Islington 27-4, while Eagles won 24-19 against Poole Phoenix. Bideford secured fourth spot, behind Cambridge, who ran out 26-12 victors against Islington, and overcame Medway Falcons 23-19.
In the other two matches Essex forfeited their games against Islington and Poole.
