5th March 2018
Three of the scheduled men’s fixtures were postponed this weekend after freezing weather hit the UK, with just one match going ahead.
League leaders London GD took on Cambridge, who are having a fantastic 2018 by remaining unbeaten so far. The match lived up to its billing, with the teams tied at 13-13 at half time.
In the second half GD turned on the style and pulled away to win 23-31. For Cambridge, the scoring was led by Florian Stroehl and Jose Ballester Beltran; GD’s top guns were Alexander Rauner and Silviu Hapencuic. This result gives GD a six-point margin in the table ahead of Olympia, albeit having played two extra matches. Cambridge are in fourth in the table after their first loss in this calendar year.
The match was part of a double header with both men’s and women’s teams facing off at Barking Sporthouse, with GD victorious in both. Can they start to dream of a double league win for their men and women’s Premier Handball League sides?
