Magic Academy founder John Fletcher joins us at the Handball Conference

England Handball is delighted that John Fletcher of Magic Academy - and elite rugby coach - will lead a workshop on 'Coaching the Performer' at the Handball Conference on 22 June.

John played rugby for Tynedale, Northampton Saints, Newcastle and England A. He ran the academy at Newcastle Falcons before being appointed the Director of Rugby. He has spent the last 10 years heading up the start of England Rugby's performance pathway including the England Under-18s, where he coached the majority of the current England team. He has recently founded a company called The Magic Academy where he and his fellow wizard Russell Earnshaw support coaches from lots of different sports and business.

The Conference takes place  at Loughborough College, Radmore Road LE1 3BT, getting underway at 10.00.

It has been designed to cater for a wide handball audience, including clubs, referees and tutors. A packed day includes keynotes from:

  • Sport England on 'How to engage and retain more young people at your club'
  • Alan Stokes on game management and rules interpretation for referees
  • Ricardo Vasconcelos on the newly developed tutor courses

As well as the Magic Academy Workshop there will be a workshop on Child Protection and Club Welfare from the CPSU.

In addition there will be the England Handball end-of-season Awards. The AGM will follow the workshops.
