NEM Hawks beat Manchester to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Men’s England Handball National Cup, while Olympia won against Poole Phoenix.
Hawks ran out 32-20 winners against local rivals Manchester. A tight first half saw Hawks hold a 15-11 advantage against North Regional League outfit Manchester. However, the Premier Handball League leaders pulled away after the break. Harry Morley again led the scoring charts for Hawks with nine goals. Lukas Okobo top scored for Manchester with eight strikes.
Olympia fought back from an 8-12 half-time deficit to beat Poole Phoenix of the South West Regional League 27-21. Dawid Chodyra bagged six goals for Premier Handball League side Olympia. Poole’s Joe Sanyal was the match’s leading scorer, beating the keeper eight times.
