Men's Premier Handball League: first versus second from last year

The Men’s Premier Handball League opens with a London double-header between London GD and Olympia.

Saturday’s curtain-raiser pits last season’s league and cup champions London GD against second-placed Olympia. The two teams finished equal on points in the league, but GD took the title on goal difference.

Both teams will be looking to draw first blood in the 56-match season.

The London derby will be played on Saturday at the Leyton Score Centre. The women throw-off at 2.30pm followed by the men at 4.30pm.

Newly-promoted Brighton Seahawks open their Premier League account by travelling the 260 miles to Powerleague Trafford Sportsdome to play Warrington Wolves. Throw-off is at 13.30.

Making the journey in the other direction will be National Cup runners-up NEM Hawks, who travel south to play West London Eagles in Barking Sporthouse. This will be another double-header with both men's and women's teams in actions on the same afternoon. The women throw-off on Saturday at 13.00 and the men at 15.00.

The final match in the first weekend of the Men’s Premier Handball League will be a contest between Nottingham and Cambridge. The two teams will face each other in Derby Arena, venue for the 2018 National Finals. Throw-off is at 14.30.
