Men's Premier Handball League: GD beat Liverpool to go top

London GD are top of the Men’s Premier Handball League after they beat Liverpool, and previous leaders Warrington Wolves lost to NEM Hawks.

GD won 40-13 against promoted Liverpool. Geoffroy Deneuville beat the keeper six times for GD, while the match’s top scorer was Liverpool's Francisco Santos with seven strikes. Liverpool are bottom with four points, behind West London Eagles on goal difference.

Hawks beat Wolves 37-28 in a north-west derby. They lead 17-11 at the break and extended their lead in a closer second half. Harry Morley struck 11 times for Hawks, while Wolves’ top scorer was Nate Green with 10 goals. Wolves are second in the table with 10 points, two less than GD. Hawks are fifth, two points behind Wolves.

Olympia sit in third spot on nine points following a 27-23 win at Eagles. Olympia led 14-10 at half time. The second period was an equal affair with both teams 13 goals. Lucas Carstens beat the keeper five times for Eagles, while for Olympia Cornel Vasile Grigorie also scored seven goals.

Nottingham grabbed their first win of the season with a nail-biting 33-32 win over Cambridge. The scores were level at 17-17 following the first half. A tense second half saw Nottingham edge out Cambridge. Francisco Pereira scored 11 for Nottingham, while Daria Zanghirati found the back of the net 10 times for Cambridge. Cambridge lie in fourth spot, ahead of Hawks on goal difference. Nottingham are sixth with five points.
