Men's Premier Handball League: GD go top

London GD moved top of the Men’s Premier Handball League on goal difference after victory over Carshalton Titans.

Nottingham beat Cambridge, NEM Hawks won the North-west derby against Warrington Wolves, and West London Eagles drew with Olympia.

GD ran out 27-22 victors against Titans. They held a 13-7 advantage at the break. Titans edged the second period but could not close the gap. Titans sit in fifth place on eight points.

Nottingham lie in second spot after winning 34-28 against Cambridge. Cambridge trailed by just two goals at half time with the scores at 15-13, but Nottingham extended their lead in the second period. Francisco Pereira was once more prolific in front of goal with 18 strikes. Alejandro Garcia Costa bagged 12 goals for Cambridge. Cambridge are sixth.

Hawks built on a 16-11 half time lead to secure a comfortable 37-23 win over Wolves. Harry Morley headed the goalscoring charts for Hawks, finding the back of the net 12 times. Wolves’ Jacob Maxted beat the keeper six times. Hawks are in fourth spot on nine points, while Wolves are in seventh on six points, behind Cambridge on goal difference.

Eagles came within a whisker of securing their first win of the campaign as it finished 26-26 against Olympia. Eagles led 13-10 at the break, but Olympia clawed their way back into the match in the second half to share the spoils. Fabio Goutet scored an impressive 13 goals for Eagles, while Kleyton Lopez hit seven for Olympia. Olympia, in third, have 10 points along with GD and Nottingham. Eagles, on five points, remain bottom.
