London GD beat Olympia to go top of the Men’s Premier Handball League on goal difference, ahead of NEM Hawks who won against previous leaders Nottingham.
Carshalton Titans took maximum points against West London Eagles, while Cambridge claimed victory against Warrington Wolves.
GD won 26-13 against London rivals Olympia after leading 15-7 at the break. Dan Terracina top scored for GD with six strikes, while Will Moore weighed in with five goals. Dawid Chodyra beat the keeper four times for Olympia. Olympia sit in fourth in the table.
Hawks ran out 28-15 winners against Nottingham, pulling away from the East Midlands side after a close first half finished 11-9. Harry Morley bagged eight goals for Hawks. Nottingham’s Francisco Pereira had a relatively quiet game by his standards, finding the back of the net five times. Nottingham slip to third place, but are just a point behind the top two.
Carshalton Titans halted a three-match losing streak with a 29-24 success against Eagles. Despite being on the losing side Eagles Fabio Goutet scored an impressive 13 goals. Regis Dore led the scoring charts for Titans, beating the keeper eight times. Titans stay sixth in the table and Eagles remain bottom.
Cambridge made it two wins on the bounce, fighting back from a 19-16 first-half deficit to win 35-31. Zsolt Majoros and Alejandro Garcia Costa led the way for Cambridge with 13 and 10 goals respectively. Morgan Gillet scored eight goals for Wolves, while Jacob Maxted and Reuben Wardle hit the target seven times apiece. Cambridge are fifth and Wolves seventh.
