Men's Premier Handball League: Hawks Crowned Champions

NEM Hawks secured the Men’s Premier Handball League table with victory over Olympia, while London GD beat Nottingham.

Hawks ran out comfortable 33-20 winners against Olympia. The North-West side pulled away in the second period after going into the break 16-13 to the good. Hawks’ Mauro Cardona top scored in the game with an impressive 10 goals, while Carl Barnes beat the keeper six times. Hawks sit on 33 points and can't now be caught, meaning they lift the Men's Premier Handball League title. Olympia, in fourth, have 23 points, but have two games to play.

GD won 30-25 against Nottingham. A tight first half saw GD hold a 15-13 lead, before extending their advantage in the second 30 minutes. Marvin Gorgen bagged seven goals for GD, while Nottingham’s Ben Howard and Josh Plumridge both found the back of the net eight times. Third-place Nottingham have 27 points with one game to play.
