Men's Premier Handball League: Hawks extend lead at top

NEM Hawks extended their lead at the top of the Men’s Premier Handball League with victory over London GD in a thriller.

Hawks ran out 22-20 winners in a nail-biting contest. They led 10-9 at half time, and extended their advantage by a further goal in an equally tight second half.

Charlie Fletcher scored six goals for Hawks, while Mauro Cardona weighed in with five strikes, and Jonny Howarth hit the back of the net four times.

Danut Nelutescu beat the keeper five times for GD, and Mehdi Kaabache scored four times.

Hawks have 30 points from their 11 games, while GD sit in second on 27 points, also from 11 matches. Nottingham, in third, have 26 points, but have played a game less than the top two.
