NEM Hawks returned to the North West with full points from their double header against West London Eagles in the Men’s and Women’s Premier Handball Leagues.
The men’s match followed the women’s, where Hawks beat the Londoners 18-26, and the men of Manchester took an immediate lead. At half-time the teams turned around with Hawks 8-16 ahead, after talented teenager Harry Morley scored six times in the first half. Morley is a player to watch for the future, and he netted a further five times in the second half as the top scorer for the match.
Eagles fought back hard in the second half through the performance of Romualdas Sakovicius, with six goals, but were unable to prevent the Mancunians extending their lead to 19-30 at the final whistle.
With this result, Hawks climb to fourth in the table, four points behind Warrington Wolves with a game in hand; Eagles remain seventh in the table.
Both teams are in action again next weekend – Hawks against bottom of the table Liverpool, and Eagles travelling to the Midlands to take on Nottingham.
