Men's Premier Handball League: It's tight at the top

In another enthralling weekend of action in the men’s Premier Handball League, there was a draw and a one-goal game.

The season of wafer-thin winning margins continued with Nottingham and West London Eagles battling to a draw, and Warrington Wolves being beaten by one goal by Olympia.

The East Midlanders came into this match on a run of five defeats. They were just one point behind Eagles in the league table. At half-time the scores were level at 13-13, and the second half also finished 13-13 as neither team could break the deadlock by the close. Final score was 26-26.

Danut Gheorghe Nelutescu and Saimonas Urbutis both netted six times for Eagles, and Jordan Price led the way for Nottingham with nine.

Olympia had the opportunity to go second in the table if they took all three points against Wolves, and they managed it by the finest of margins. The Londoners led by one goal at half-time, and maintained that advantage to the close.

For Wolves, Ollie Tyler impressed with seven goals. Olympia’s Dawid Chodyra top scored with ten. Final result was 26-27 to Olympia.

Top four in the men’s Premier Handball League remains close. GD are top, level on points with Olympia in second but with an extra game to play. Hawks and Wolves are in third and fourth on 22 points, but Hawks are two games behind Olympia so look threatening.
