Men’s Premier Handball League leaders NEM Hawks host Olympia this weekend, while second-place Nottingham play London GD in third.
At the other end of the table West London Eagles face Warrington Wolves in a clash that could decide who goes down and who stays up, and Cambridge travel to Carshalton Titans.
Hawks and Olympia meet fresh from booking their places in the quarter finals of the Men’s National Cup. Hawks are in a great run of form, unbeaten in seven, with six straight wins. Olympia’s recent form has been the opposite with four defeats in succession. Throw-off at Oldham Leisure Centre on Sunday is at 15.30. The match is preceded by the Premier Handball League clash between the women’s teams at 13.30 in a great double bill.
Nottingham have just two defeats to their name, the last coming against Hawks before the Christmas break. Since then they’ve won their last two games. They sit just one point ahead of GD, who returned to winning ways last time out following a defeat to Hawks. Nottingham know a win, combined with defeat for Hawks would see them return to top spot, while a win for GD and a Hawks loss could see them top the pile on goal difference. Throw-off at Derby Arena on Sunday is at 14.30.
Just one point separates bottom side Eagles and Wolves in seventh. A win for Wolves would take them three points clear of Eagles. Victory for Eagles would see them leapfrog Wolves. Throw-off at the German School in Richmond is at 16.00 on Saturday.
Carshalton go into the match against Cambridge buoyed by victory over Olympia in their last match, their fourth win of the season. That result saw them move ahead of Cambridge who lost at the hands of Hawks in their last game, their second defeat in a row. A win for either Titans or Cambridge, combined with a defeat for Olympia, could see them move into the top four. Throw-off at Barking Sporthouse is at 15.00 on Sunday. The match is preceded by the Women’s Premier Handball League clash between Cambridge and London Angels at 12.00 in another great double header.
