Men's Premier Handball League: New-boys Titans beat Wolves

Men’s Premier Handball League new-boys Carshalton Titans got their campaign off to a winning start with victory over Warrington Wolves.

Defending champions London GD won against NEM Hawks, Cambridge top the table after taking maximum points against West London Eagles, and Olympia beat Nottingham.

Titans won 34-30 at Wolves, after holding a narrow 17-16 lead at the break. Regis Dore top scored for Titans with 11 strikes, while Adam Latter bagged 10 goals. Wolves Ryan Thomas matched Dore in the scoring charts, beating the keeper 11 times.

GD secured a 23-17 victory against visitors Hawks. The home side edged a tight first half 10-9, extending their lead after the break. GD shared the goals around, Francisco Cuenca heading the home side’s scoring charts with six strikes. Hawks’ Harry Morley was the game's leading scorer, beating the keeper eight times.

Cambridge lead the standings after one match on goal difference thanks to a 34-28 win against West London Eagles. Alejandro Garcia Costa struck seven times for Cambridge. Eagles Fabio Goutet turned in an outstanding performance with 15 goals.

Olympia produced an improved second-half display to win 29-24 against Nottingham. Nottingham held a slender 13-12 advantage at half time. However, 17 goals in the second period, to Nottingham’s 11, saw them claim victory. Tomasz Chwajta scored nine of Olympia’s goals, while Francisco Pereira notched seven for Nottingham.
