Nottingham made it five wins from five matches with victory over Olympia, to move level on points with the London side at the top of the Men’s Premier Handball League.
Meanwhile, Carshalton Titans got their first win of the season, beating West London Eagles, and London GD edged past NEM Hawks in a thriller.
Nottingham ran out 27-22 winners against Olympia. They led 13-6 at the break. Olympia clawed back some of the deficit in the second period, but could not close the gap. Olympia remain top of the table on goal difference but have played a match more than the East Midlands side. Benjamin Howard scored eight goals for Nottingham, while Jonas Petrikejevas notched the same for Olympia.
Titans broke their duck with a 39-17 success over Eagles. Titans were always in control and led 20-8 after the first half. Adam Latter and Robert Damianou both beat the keeper eight times for Titans. Silviu-Gabriel Munteanu found the back of the net six times for Eagles. Eagles drop to bottom of the table, while Carshalton move up to fifth, ahead of Cambridge on goal difference. However, Eagles have a game in hand on both teams.
GD took maximum points against Hawks in a nail biting 25-24 win over the North West side. Hawks led 14-13 after the first period, but GD turned the tables after the break. GD’s Medhi Kaabache top scored in the match with eight goals, while Jeremy Archier scored seven. Charlie Fletcher struck seven times for Hawks. GD stay in third spot, while Hawks - who have played just four matches, remain in fourth.
