Men's Premier Handball League: Pereira bags 14 as Nottingham stay top

Nottingham remain top of the Men’s Premier Handball League after beating bottom side West London Eagles.

Cambridge edged past Olympia, NEM Hawks won against Carshalton Titans, and London GD were victors against Warrington Wolves.

Nottingham ran out 45-27 winners against Eagles in a high-scoring match. Francisco Pereira again top scored for Nottingham with 14 goals, while Ben Howard weighed in with seven strikes. Fabio Goutet headed the scoring charts for Eagles, beating the keeper seven times, while Philip Totev scored six goals.

Cambridge ended a winless run of four matches, a sequence that included one draw, with a thrilling 27-26 victory against Olympia. Cambridge led 14-10 at the break. Olympia fought back in the second half but couldn’t quite close the gap. Zsolt Majoros bagged eight goals for Cambridge, while Alejandro Garcia Costa found the back of the net seven times. Olympia’s Kleyton Lopez was the game’s top scorer with nine goals. Cambridge are fifth, while Olympia lie in fourth.

NEM Hawks are third, behind GD on goal difference, following a 36-25 win over Titans. Hawks led 17-12 at half time and extended their advantage in the second period. Harry Morley scored an impressive 16 goals for Hawks. Regis Dore netted five times for Titans. Carshalton are in sixth place.

GD won 34-14 at Wolves, building on a 21-7 half-time lead. GD shared the goals around, Silviu Hapenciuc top scoring with seven strikes. Maciej Walczak led the way for Wolves with four goals. Wolves stay second-bottom.
