Men's Premier Handball League: Prolific Pereira on target as Nottingham go top

Nottingham moved top of the Men’s Premier Handball League on goal difference after beating Carshalton Titans.

London GD drew with Cambridge, Olympia won against Warrington Wolves, and West London Eagles took maximum points at NEM Hawks.

Nottingham ran out 37-27 victors against Titans. Francisco Pereira top scored again for Nottingham, who led 17-13 at the break, with 14 goals. Ben Tyler and Ben Howard both beat the keeper six times. Goncalo Trancoso led the goal-scoring charts for Titans with 10 strikes. Regis Dore notched six goals. The result sees Carshalton in fifth place on nine points.

GD, who led proceeding prior to the weekend’s action drew 27-27 with Cambridge. GD edged the first half 17-15, but Cambridge fought back in a nail-biter to ensure the spoils were shared. GD slip to third spot in the table, while Cambridge are sixth.

Another thriller saw Olympia move up to second after beating Warrington Wolves 28-27. The teams couldn’t be separated at half time with the scores at 16-16. However, Olympia did just enough in the second period to take the three points. Kleyton Eusebio led the scoring for the London side with seven goals, while Wolves’ Reuben Wardle also scored seven. Wolves are seventh.

Hawks are fourth in the table, behind GD on goal difference, after beating West London Eagles. They led 17-11 at half time and held off a comeback from Eagles after the break as the game finished 26-23. Hawks’ prolific Harry Morley hit the target 12 times for Hawks, while Fabio Goutet scored 11 times for Eagles. Eagles remain bottom, still searching for their first win.
