Men's Premier Handball League: Titans face leaders Nottingham

Men’s Premier Handball League leaders Nottingham play Carshalton Titans this weekend, while second-place NEM Hawks face West London Eagles.

Cambridge host third-place London GD, while Olympia travel to the North West to take on Warrington Wolves.

Nottingham have lost just twice this season and won their last four matches, their last defeat coming before the Christmas break against Hawks. The East Midlands side will be aiming to extend that run as they bid to claim their first Premier Handball League title. Titans lost to GD last time out, but are enjoying their first ever season in the top flight, with five wins to their name so far. Throw-off at Barking Sporthouse is at 15.00 on Sunday.

Hawks are in hot pursuit of Nottingham and sit just one point behind the league leaders. They won their last game, the big North-west derby against Warrington Wolves, getting back on track after a defeat at the hands of Olympia. A draw or victory for Hawks, combined with a Nottingham defeat, would see them go back to the top of the standings. They play an Eagles side propping up the table with just one win, and one draw to their name so far this term. Eagles will be hoping for victory, and a Warrington defeat, as they look to close the gap between themselves and Wolves. Throw-off at Leyton Score Centre is at 14.30 on Saturday. It is followed by the Women’s Premier Handball League clash between the two sides at 16.30 in a great double bill.

Cambridge go into their match with GD on the back of a four-game losing streak, a run that has seen them drop to sixth in the table. They will be looking to turn that form around against a GD that put defeat against Nottingham behind them to beat Titans in their last match. GD will be looking to put together a winning run in the final matches of the season as they look to keep their title hopes alive. They know a win combined with defeat for Hawks would see them go second.  Throw-off at Moulton College is at 14.30 on Saturday. It is followed by the Women’s Premier Handball League meeting between Cambridge and GD in another great double-header.

Olympia travel to Oldham Leisure Centre on Sunday on the back of an improved run of form. The London side have won their last two, putting behind them a losing run of four matches. Warrington sit in seventh spot, three points ahead of bottom side Eagles. Wolves know that if they win, and Eagles lose, then their Premier Handball League survival would be confirmed. Throw-off is at 14.30.
