Men's Super-8: Trio eye top spot

Warrington Wolves, NEM Hawks and West London Eagles all go into the weekend’s games looking to top the table at Christmas.

Hawks, who won a thriller against defending champions London GD last time out, travel to Cranfield to play bottom side Coventry Sharks. Hawks know a victory against winless Sharks could see them head the table, depending on the result of the match between Eagles and Wolves at Sporthouse. If Eagles and Wolves draw and Hawks win, Hawks will go top. If Wolves win against Eagles they are likely to remain top thanks to their superior goal difference. However, if Eagles beat Wolves, and Hawks win, Hawks will go top, as long as Eagles victory is not by eight goals better than Hawks. Throw-off at Cranfield between Sharks and Hawks is at 14.30 on Saturday and follows the Super-7 women’s match between the two clubs. Eagles and Wolves throw-off on Sunday at 15.00.

Cambridge could strengthen their position if results go their way. The East Anglian side face Super-8 new-boys Nottingham at Sporthouse on Saturday. A win, combined with draws in the Hawks match and the meeting between Eagles and Wolves would see them move level on points with the top three, although, goal difference would keep them in fourth. A win, combined with a defeat for any of the top three would see them move up one place. Throw-off is at 15.30 and is pre-ceded by Women’s Super-7 meeting between Cambridge and Nottingham at 13.30.

Leyton Score Centre sees a Capital City derby between Olympia and London GD. GD will be looking to return to winning ways following their defeat to Hawks last weekend. Olympia sneaked past Sharks in their last match to make it two wins-in-a-row and will be bidding for maximum points once more to keep their name as another potential title winner. Throw-off on Saturday is at 16.00. The Super-7 match between Olympia and GD women throws-off at 14.00.
