The best school handball teams from around the country will be fighting it out at Worcester Arena this weekend in the National Schools Finals.
Schools have qualified from regional competitions, with each region sending one boys and one girls team in each of the Under 13 and Under 15 categories.
Local Worcester team Tudor Grange Academy have qualified for the finals, alongside three other schools from the West Midlands – Wheelers Lane, Sandwell Academy and Holly Lodge High School, all in Birmingham.
A number of schools who were on the podium in 2016 and 2017 will be challenging for medals in Worcester Arena.
The Under 15 girls event could be a showdown between London qualifiers Chadwell Heath Academy, who won the Under 13 title last year, and the 2016 champions in this age group, Stroud High School. Alongside Stroud High School, the other South West qualifiers are Stroud’s Marling School and Pate’s Grammar School in Cheltenham.
Boys Under 15 silver medallists in 2016, Parrswood High from Manchester, have qualified from the North West and will be trying to go one better this time round. Bower Park Academy from East London have qualified three teams, giving them the strongest showing from one school.
The action commences on both Saturday and Sunday at 10.40am in the University of Worcester Arena. Entry is free.
