Referee courses venues, dates and times confirmed

England Handball has announced further details on the dates and venues for the compulsory Level-1 Refereeing courses.

Please note the course is for clubs only. Please see the criteria section below regarding the numbers of participants per club.

Objective

The purpose of the referee courses is to:

  • Update all clubs on the 2018-19 match procedures, rules and regulations
  • Ensure all clubs have qualified referees in order to support increasing the number of referees within England Handball. This was raised as an issue by clubs at the during the 2017-18 club meetings.

Criteria

Each club is permitted a maximum of two free places on the course. Each course has a maximum capacity and depending on take up this may be reduced to one place. Clubs which do not register for the course will be fined the respective free place they have failed to take.

Structure

The first part of the course will be theory-based, followed by practical refereeing.

Courses are organised around the first weekend of the England Handball under-16 league. This is to provide all referees with in-game experience and assessment.
