Second half fightback from Cambridge, but Angels prevail

A strong second hand fightback from Cambridge saw them nearly grab three points from this fixture, but London Angels hung on for the win.

It was a mid-table showdown between these two teams, with Angels aimed to make it three wins in a row. They managed to get the hat trick but by the slimmest of margins, winning 16-15, after leading 10-5 at half time.

For Cambridge, Nikoletta Rau, Agnes Foeglein and Grete Morkvenaite led the scoring, netting nine of the ten second half goals between them. However Angels dug in and hung on for the one-goal win over the East Anglians.

Beata Nagy was prolific as ever for Angels, scoring six times. Barbara Csombor got on the scoresheet four times, and it was her three second half goals which proved crucial in securing the tight victory for the Londoners.

With this result, Angels push up to fourth in the table, with a hat trick of wins under their belt – a confidence boost as they head into the final six weeks of the league season level on points with Olympia. They will have to wait three weeks to see if they can extend their winning run to four matches, when they host Coventry Sharks.

Cambridge’s next match will be in the middle of April, when they play Olympia.
