Teams from all over the world will be heading to the Olympic Park to battle it out on 27-29 July at the Copper Box International Handball Cup 2018.
12 Men’s and eight Women’s teams will face off to get their hands on the trophy of the competition, now in its sixth edition. Growing each year, this tournament is quickly becoming one of the biggest spectacles that English handball has to offer on its home soil.
The event was created off the back of the Olympics to continue the buzz that London 2012 brought around handball and introduce people to the wonders of the sport.
The Copper Box International Handball Cup attracts teams from all over the world, including this year, the Great Britain under-18 Mens' Handball team, up to three National teams of India, and a club from Dubai.
London GD, who are one of the largest and most successful clubs in England play host, and come in this year on the back of four league wins and two cup wins, including the “Double-Double” for both of the men’s and women’s first teams.
The action begins on Friday 27 of July in the afternoon, with games throwing-off from 17:15, before a jam-packed weekend of handball with teams playing through the group stages to the finals on Sunday 29 July.
Spectators new to handball can come and learn about this great sport for only £5 a day for adults and £1 for 15-17 year olds. Under-14s go absolutely free and can have a go at handball thanks to a special European guest: Carlos Prieto, from “Share & Play”.
