The best student clubs from across England, Scotland and Wales will contest the University Cup and Plate this weekend.
Last year’s women’s Cup champions, Loughborough, will start the defence of their title with a match against Liverpool. They will then play the runner-up from the Scottish group as well as Cambridge in the Cup pool stages.
University of Loughborough women’s second team won the Plate last year. They play in the Plate pool stages, being drawn against Nottingham who were last year’s Cup runners-up. Loughborough 2 then face Birmingham 2, Chichester, and one of the Scottish teams.
Neither of the men’s Cup finalists from 2018, Cranfield and Durham, are playing in finals weekend.
Last year’s men’s Plate winner, Leeds Beckett, will open the weekend against Birmingham 2. They will go on to play Chichester, Kent 2 and Brunel in the pool stage. The 2018 runners-up, Bangor, face Nottingham 2, Birmingham, Oxford and Birmingham 3 in the pool matches.
Imperial were the 2018 women’s Plate runners-up. They will contest the Cup this year, and in their pool matches they play Leeds Beckett, Birmingham and University College London (UCL).
The knock-out stages will be fought out on Sunday. The 2019 University Plate and Cup champions will be crowned at the conclusion of proceedings, at 17.20.
