NEM Hawks and Liverpool will go into the hat for the Women’s National Cup quarter-final draw after second-round wins against Stroud and Newcastle Vikings respectively.
Hawks, finalists in 2019, beat Stroud 39-21, while Liverpool secured a 21-14 victory over North Regional League rivals Vikings.
Athalia Ibanga led the way for Hawks - who went into the break with a 19-11 advantage - scoring nine goals. Ellie Whitehead and Becky Barnes scored six apiece and Sophie Unsworth bagged five. Alex Nielson beat the keeper seven times for Stroud, while Olivia Whitty found the back of the net five times.
The first half between Liverpool and Newcastle was a close affair, Liverpool leading 9-7 at half time. However, Liverpool, pulled away after the break. Ania Wojtowicz headed the scoring charts with six goals, while Marta Tubacka weighed in with five strikes. Marie Brevet, Judyla Turulska and Maren Liane all scored three goals for Vikings.
