Women's Premier Handball League: Eagles and Angels secure first win

West London Eagles and Cambridge Angels secured their first victories of the season, after opening-day defeats.

Eagles edged past Oympia 31-30 in a thriller, while Angels beat GD 22-21 in another nail biter.

Eagles trailed their London rivals 13-15 at half time, but out-scored Olympia 18-15 in the second peiod to take maximum points. Wiktoria Powysynska top scored for Eagles with 10 goals, while Malwina Spek led the way for Olympia with eight strikes.

Cambridge also fought back from a half-time defecit to secure victory as GD led 9-8 at the break. An enthralling second half saw Angels overhaul GD to take the win. Grete Morkvenaite beat the keeper nine times for Angels. GD shared the goals around, with Tani Corti, Gabrielle Deloric, Fanny Royer, and Nikola Szymura all finding the back of net three times.

GD, Olympia, Cambridge and Eagles all have four points from their first two games. Goal difference sees GD head the table over Olympia, with Angels in third and Eagles in fourth. Hawks in fifth have yet to get their season underway.
