Olympia moved up to second in the Women’s Premier Handball League with victory over London GD, while West London Eagles won against league leaders Cambridge Angels.
Olympia beat GD 31-20 in the Capital City clash. They held a 16-9 advantage at the break, extending their lead by two further goals in a tighter second period. GD’s Maria Teresa Perez headed the scoring charts in the match with eight goals. Anastasia Petrovska and Malwina Spek both bagged five goals for Olympia.
The win moves Olympia onto seven points from three matches, while GD sit in fourth spot with one win from three games.
Eagles also have seven points, but lie behind Olympia on goal difference, after beating Angels 20-11. Eagles were in charge at half time as they led 12-3, keeping their grip on the match in the second 30. Chiara Bolze scored more than half of Eagles goals, beating the keeper 11 times. Cambridge shared the goals around, Reka Pustai scoring three times. Cambridge remain top, one point ahead of Olympia and Eagles, but have played a match more.
