Women's Premier Handball League: GD face Hawks test

The Women’s Premier Handball League gets underway this weekend with defending champions Olympia taking on Reading Lionesses.

The other matches see NEM Hawks make the trip to the Capital to play London GD, and newly-promoted Cambridge play West London Eagles.

Olympia went unbeaten last season to take the title, with 12 wins and two draws. They will be looking to take that form into this campaign. They will face a Reading side looking to establish themselves in the Premier Handball League after finishing sixth in their first season in the top flight. Throw-off at Leyton Score Centre on Sunday is at 12.30. It precedes the Men’s Premier Handball League match between Olympia and Nottingham which throws off at 14.30 in a double header.

GD in second and Hawks in third were separated by just one point last season and Saturday’s match at Barking Sports House promises to be another close encounter. The honours were shared last term when the two teams met. GD won at Hawks, and the north-west side took maximum points in the reverse fixture. Throw-off is at 15.00 and follows the men’s Premier Handball League fixture between the two sidesthat throws off at 13.00 in a great double bill.

Cambridge return to Premier Handball League action after one season away. They take on a West London Eagles side that finished in fourth spot in the last campaign, but who were just two points of second place. Throw of at Leyton Score Centre is at 14.30. It precedes the men’s Premier Handball League match between Cambridge and Eagles which throws off at 16.30, in another bonanza of handball.
