Women's Premier Handball League: GD head standings with win over Sharks

London GD lead the women’s Premier Handball League after beating Coventry Sharks, while NEM Hawks' victory over Olympia sees them in second spot.

GD won 23-20 in a close-fought match against Sharks, who were playing their first match of the season. A single goal separated the two sides at half time as GD led 11-10. The second period was also a tight affair, GD doing enough to secure the victory and make it three wins from three. Coventry are bottom of the table but have played just one match. Maria Perez and Christina Rehnberg both scored seven goals for GD, while Kristin Ivancheva notched six times for Sharks.

Another nail-biting match saw Hawks claw back a four-goal half-time deficit to beat Olympia 30-28. They trailed the home side 12-16 but showed their determination to secure three points. Holly Lam-Moores beat the keeper 11 times, while Amelia Neacsu struck nine times for Olympia. Hawks are second in the table with two wins and a defeat from their first three matches. Olympia are third, ahead of West London Eagles on goal difference, with a victory and a defeat from two matches.
