NEM Hawks moved off the bottom of the Women’s Premier Handball League with a 20-18 win over the West London Eagles.
It was the second time in as many weeks that the two teams had met, the previous encounter finishing all square. Hawks edged a tight first half 11-10, extending their advantage by one more goal in a nail-biting second half. Hawks’ Sophie Unsworth top scored in the game with eight goals, while Chiara Bolza beat the keeper six times for Eagles.
The victory moves Hawks onto 10 points, one ahead of bottom side London GD, on whom they have a game in hand. They are just two points behind second-place Eagles, and third-place Cambridge Angels, who’ve also played a game more than the North-West side.
