Women's Premier Handball League: Leaders Olympia Pushed Hard by Hawks

Olympia beat NEM Hawks in a close-fought match to stay top of the Women’s Premier Handball League, while Cambridge won against London Angels.

A thrilling contest at Oldham Leisure Centre saw Olympia win 27-26 after trailing 14-13 at half time. Marija Stricevic and Adiva Sarodoc both scored five goals for Olympia. Hawks’ Ellie Whitehead top-scored in the match with six strikes, while Eliza Morgan hit the net five times for the home side. Olympia are one point ahead of Cambridge at the top of the table, with a game in hand. Hawks are fourth.

Cambridge won 26-22 against bottom side London Angels, building on a 13-11 half-time lead. Grete Morkvenaite headed the scoring charts in the game, beating the keeper nine times, while Nikoletta Rau struck seven times. Haruka Okuhira scored eight for Angels, while Viktoria Takacs bagged seven goals.
