Olympia and London GD remain unbeaten this season in the women’s Premier Handball League. This weekend they will face tough tests to see if they can maintain their unbeaten runs.
London GD will play their capital city neighbours London Angels, Olympia face Reading Lionesses, West London Eagles play Peninsula and NEM Hawks are drawn against University of Loughborough.
Last year’s National Shield champions, Lionesses, come into this match off the back of a win in the league followed by a win in the National Cup last weekend, so will be hoping to string together a hat trick of victories. Olympia drew with NEM Hawks in their previous league match.
Olympia are level on points in the table with Hawks, but have a game in hand over the Manchester club.
Olympia and Lionesses throw off at 13.00 at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre on Sunday.
London GD are also unbeaten in this year’s league and are currently top of the table with just one draw to their name. They play London Angels, who have won three out of their four Premier Handball League games this season.
Throw-off is at 13.30 at Barking Sporthouse on Sunday.
Hawks face University of Loughborough, who are searching for their first win of the season. The students were defeated by Lionesses in their previous league outing. Hawks come into this match after drawing with Olympia in round five.
Throw-off is at 13.30 at Oldham Leisure Centre on Sunday.
West London Eagles and Peninsula meet on Saturday. Peninsula are seventh in the table but have two games in hand so their league position is misleading. Eagles were beaten by GD by just one goal in the last round of matches, and Peninsula were defeated by Hawks in their previous game.
Throw-off is at 12.30 on Saturday in Leyton Score Centre.
GD are four points clear at the top so will retain their position as league leaders irrespective of results this weekend. The rest of the teams are all within six points of each other, so the league could be shaken up come Sunday evening.
