Women's Premier Handball League: Olympia Move Three Points Clear at Top

Olympia opened up a three-point gap at the top of the Women’s Premier Handball League with victory over West London Eagles.

NEM Hawks moved up to second place after beating Cambridge Angels.

Olympia edged past Eagles 22-21, pushed all the way by their Capital city rivals after leading 11-9 at the break. Denisa Le-Mon top scored for Olympia with an impressive 11 goals. Chiara Bolze beat the keeper seven times for Eagles. The victory moves Olympia onto 16 points. Eagles, in third, have 13 points and sit behind Hawks, and ahead of Cambridge Angels, on goal difference.

Hawks won 22-18 at home to Angels to continue their climb up the table. Hawks led 13-7 at half time. Cambridge clawed back some of that advantage in the second period but it was Hawks who claimed maximum points. Angels’ Grete Morkveenaite beat the keeper seven times for Angels, while Kinga Geber scored six. Sophie Unsworth found the back of the net five times.
