Olympia beat London Angels to stay top of the Women’s Premier Handball League.
London GD won against West London Eagles to stay second, while NEM Hawks were victorious against Cambridge.
Olympia won 35-25 against Angels. Denisa Le-Mon was top scorer for the league leaders, who held a 16-12 advantage at the break, with nine goals. Aniko Pinter and Viktoria Takas both weighed in with seven strikes for Angels. Angels remain sixth, one point ahead of bottom side Reading Lionesses.
GD ran out 33-25 winners against Eagles. GD went into the interval with a comfortable 18-8 lead. Eagles came out stronger in the second period but were unable to reduce the deficit. Nikola Szymura led the scoring charts for GD with eight goals. Eagle’s Noelly Chevallier also bagged eight goals. Eagles remain in fourth, on 16 points.
Hawks, also have 16 points after beating Cambridge 36-30, but sit a place behind Eagles on goal difference. Hawks held a slender 15-13 lead against the home side at half time, before extending their advantage in the second 30 minutes. Athalia Ibanga beat the keeper an impressive 12 times for Hawks, while Sophie Unsworth found the back of the net seven times. Nikoletta Rau and Sonja Nashchekina both struck eight times for Cambridge. Cambridge stay third, on 18 points.
