Women's Premier Handball League: opening matches include two double-headers

The Women’s Premier Handball League commences for the 2018/19 season with two double-headers.

The first sees both NEM Hawks men’s and women’s teams travel to London to face West London Eagles in Barking Sporthouse. The women throw-off at 13.00 on Saturday, with the men following at 15.00.

The second double-header pits Olympia against London GD, in a re-run of the final match of last season when Olympia denied the champions an unbeaten record. On that day Olympia triumphed by one point in a 21-20 scoreline.

GD achieved a clean sweep of both men’s and women’s Premier Handball League titles last season, as well as both National Cup titles.

Newly promoted Reading Lionesses went through last season unbeaten, having not lost a Regional League South East or National Shield match last year. Becoming National Shield champions crowned their spectacular season.

Lionesses travel to Barking Sporthouse to play London Angels. Throw-off is at 13.30 on Sunday.

The final match scheduled for the weekend, between Peninsula and newly promoted Loughborough University, has had to be postponed due to the constraints of the academic year.
