Women's Premier Handball League: Peninsula and Cambridge eye crucial victories

With London GD having sewn up the Womens’ Premier Handball League attention turns to the other end of the table.

Bottom side Peninsula take on NEM Hawks, while seventh-place Cambridge travel to Olympia. Elsewhere, Coventry Sharks host West London Eagles, and champions GD play London Angels.

Peninsula are three points behind Cambridge but have a match in hand. A win against Hawks would keep the pressure on the East Anglian side. They play a Hawks side who recorded a valuable victory against Eagles in the battle for second spot last time out. Throw-off at Oldham Leisure Centre is at 14.30 on Sunday.

The match comes 24 hours after Cambridge face Olympia. Cambridge have lost their last three matches, but know a win against last season’s Champions, and defeat for Peninsula would see them within a whisker of safety. Olympia’s form has been mixed with two wins and two defeats in their last four matches. Throw-off at Leyton Score Centre is at 14.30 on Saturday.

Eagles saw their title challenge disappear when they lost to GD, before defeat against Hawks in a busy few days. They will be bidding for victory as they, like Hawks, eye second spot. Sharks have won their last three games and will go into the match in confident mood. Throw-off at Coventry Sport and Leisure Centre is at 16.30 on Sunday.

Champions GD host London Angels at the Copper Box on Saturday in a 15.30 throw-off. GD have an eye on winning every match this season. Angels lost a thriller against Coventry in their last game, a result that ended a three-match winning sequence.
