Coventry Sharks and West London Eagles meet at Cranfield on Sunday, both hoping to end the weekend top of the pile, while Olympia are also bidding to head the standings.
Sharks are the current leaders on 14 points, one ahead of Olympia and two more than Eagles. Victory for Eagles and defeat for Olympia would guarantee Eagles top spot. Sharks know a win will make sure they continue as leaders, while a draw will ensure the same result if Olympia also draw or lose. Sharks have won four out of their last five matches, while Eagles have lost just once all season – and won the reverse fixture earlier in the season. Throw-off at Cranfield is at 14.30 and follows the Men’s Super-8 match between the two sides at 12.30.
Olympia make the trip north to play bottom side NEM Hawks at Oldham on Sunday. Olympia have won their last two and lost just once this term. A win, combined with defeat for Sharks would take Olympia top. A draw and a defeat for Coventry would also see them head the standings, as long as the Sharks defeat against Eagles is by two goals or less. Hawks go into the match bidding for their first win of the campaign. However, they have only played four matches and know a good run could see them climb the table. Throw-off is at 14.30 and is part of a great double bill with the Men’s Super-8 teams throwing off at 12.30.
Defending Champions London GD have also played just four matches. They sit in fourth but winning their matches in hand would put them right among the leading pack. They entertain Cambridge at the Copper Box on Sunday and will hope to bounce back from their one-goal defeat against Olympia before Christmas, their first reverse of the season. Cambridge have struggled this season with one win, one draw and four defeats. However, victory would take them above GD, although they will have played two matches more. Throw-off is at 15.30, and is preceded by the Men’s Super-8 match between the two sides at 13.30.
