Womens' Regional League North: Liverpool beat Leeds University in thriller

Liverpool and Leeds University fought out a thriller in the Womens’ Regional League North, Liverpool winning 23-22.

In and end-to-end game, visitors Leeds held a two-goal advantage at the break. However, Liverpool fought back in the second half and with two minutes remaining led by three. Leeds struck back in a nerve-jangling finale but Liverpool held on to take maximum points.

Goalkeeper Hannah Kempster was Liverpool’s player-of-the-match with a number of fine saves. Top scorer for Liverpool was Babett Nagy with nine goals. Marta Tubacka beat the keeper eight times, while Brooke Partington scored five.

Leeds’ main goal scorers were Magdalena Karinatka and Sophie Staff, both with five strikes.
